Trying to Unite My Heart to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at all times…
“Each morning when I travel in my car around my community, I see a homeless man named Eddie begging…for months he has sat at the same freeway exit ramp, hoping to gather enough money for the day to put gas in the car that was donated to him, or brake fluid that keeps leaking. After making a list and giving Eddie all the local homelessness prevention and support services he could access, when I stopped to ask if he found the list helpful, he said he “is still reading it…” that was after I saw him in the local park on a cell phone…hum…I ask myself: Why is this man begging? Why is he not willing to pursue the help that is available to him? Should I continue to help him, when it appears he is not willing to help himself?!” Then I attend mass on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the same Jesus that thirsts after each and every one of us, loves us sooooo much that He laid down His life in love for each one of us - for me, for Eddie. I then realize that my opportunity each day is to remain united in love to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which only knows LOVE. It is not for me to judge others, no matter what it may appear they are doing or not doing on the outside…it is my opportunity to love and serve Eddie because in doing so I am loving and serving my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Work of Mercy #9 kick in, Instruct the Ignorant, ME!”
