St. Valentines Day Love in Pretzels!

Did you know that St. Valentine’s Day is a Catholic Feast Day?! Somehow the word “Saint” gets dropped off when wishing someone a Happy St. Valentine’s Day greeting each year! But here in the U.S. we Catholics try to make sure always to keep the word “Saint” in our Happy St. Valentine’s Day greetings to family and friends, alike!

These delicious handmade pretzels from a beloved bakery were shared with the staff of one of our UPRISE movement-makers’s parishes on St. Valentine’s Day; to thank them for ALL they do to make the parish life so vibrant!

Did you know there was really a gentleman who lived in the 3rd century who is the real St. Valentine? He was a Bishop of Terini, Italy, and imprisoned for secretly marrying soldiers that wanted to marry, at a time in history when soldiers were not permitted to have a wife. Bishop Valentine is propertied to have healed his jailor’s daughter of her blindness, and signed a letter to her, “from your Valentine.” Here is one prayer of St. Valentine you can pray all year long, not just on the one day of love: Dear St. Valentine: Tech us to love unselfishly as Christ loves us; help us to find great joy in giving to others out of love for them; Enable all true lovers to being out the best in each other, in God, and God in each other. Amen.”
