Sharing the Faith with Family
One of our sisters in Christ who is an UPRISE movement-maker recently shared her surprising encounter with her adult brother who had come for a weekend visit to her home, to just catch up, spend time together. Over supper, her brother asked her about her faith and if her church provided a sense of community for her? He described that his non-denominational community church did not provide the connection he is seeking, and the learning of God that he craves. Our UPRISE sister found herself surprisingly describing with great joy her Catholic faith and the daily mass liturgical framework that provides such a beautiful sense of community, locally among those at mass each day, but universally due to knowing that the Holy Eucharist was present in churches at the same time, all around the globe! One of the Spiritual Works of Mercy is “instructing the ignorant,” in a manner that does not position oneself as “haughty” or “all knowing,” but shares joyfully the love of Christ, and inspiring our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to remain open to His encounters. Thank you, God, for this beautiful experience of brother and sisterly love for each other, that through You, all things are possible!
